TOMS Shoes is the brain child of Blake Mycoskie, a former contestant of reality TV's "The Amazing Race". The goal behind TOMS line of shoes is to end shoelessness in third world countries through donated shoes. For every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS gives a pair to a child in need. TOMS are available in a rainbow of colors and prints and are offered in women's sizes, men's sizes, and even children's sizes, known as "Tiny TOMS". The design for the TOMS shoe was modeled after the traditional Argentinean shoe called alpargatas. The first official "shoe drop" was in Argentina in 2006, after reaching their goal of selling 10,000 shoes. In November of 2007, 50,000 shoes were dropped in South Africa.
