Melancholy.

Paper cradle

I'm growing more and more melancholy with the state of green design. Seriously, doesn't the miracle of new life deserve a proper bed? There is something just a wee bit off with laying a newborn in a cardboard box, recycled or not.

Post Script: I hereby pledge to leave my disdain off this blog. Thank you for letting me vent.

Alex,
I can assure you this is marketed for real human babies.

P.S. I love that you're commenting here!

I remember when my first baby was born and searching for the perfect small crib . . . it was so beautiful and I made all the sheets myself - you know the drill! Then wove ribbons in it etc.

This cardboard crib actually seems unsafe - plus, I would want to collage all over it . . .

That is either horrifying or hilarious. Or both. I kind of doubt the anti-SIDs people would like that design. If you want a green option, how about using (or starting) a family bassinet that is passed from person to person. You can borrow ours :)

I wondered if I'd be the only one who thought this was just wrong. I love you people.

"Yeah, my parents raised me in a cardboard box."

Come on people - there are so many ways to be eco-friendly without being stupid!

Besides, there are probably chemicals that went into making this crib that are dangerous to newborns.

Like your blog normally, but sorry, not with you on this one. I spent my early months in a drawer from my parents' dresser. I'm sure I didn't feel any less miraculous because I didn't have a "proper" bed, and I'm glad they saved the $ to spend it on me when I could appreciate it.

My husband and I are taking this design and going to lows and getting wood. I love the look of this cradle but with poo blow out and pee, spit up and all do you know how bad that cardboard will smell.
