It's beautiful and I love it, like REALLY love it. I deeply appreciate the consciousness in the details-- organic cotton/hemp canvas, vegetable tanned leather, water-based ink, handmade in New York-- but am I alone in thinking that $465 is more than indulgent for an Eco item? How much is too much for a 'green' product? Where do you draw your line?

WOW! Too pricey for me. Wondering about the price.... I read that all materials were made and sourced in the US. The materials grown and manufactured in the US can raise the price a bit but still.....
I also understand the value in someone's time, but...

They are absolutely beautiful and if I had the money I would choose this over, say, a Louis Vuitton bag. So much more original and the eco-friendliness is a plus.
I think its great that green items are permeating into the upper-echelon of fashion as well. Rich people should want green fashion as well, and I think that a organic hemp bag is much better than an endangered crocodile skin bag!
I appreciate your points of view, honestly I do. However, I have a real issue with our society and the obsession with 'luxury'. I own nice things, I'm very blessed, but I choose wisely. I'm currently carrying a $5. handbag, and it suits my needs. I believe that we need to shift what we value. What if all the LV lovers had donated their thousands to a humanitarian effort?
In this particular case, $465. could change someone's life.
It is a lovely bag and I do love supporting eco fashion, but I agree that the money would be better spent somewhere else! I am in the market for a new bag, but I think I'll keep shopping for something more along the lines of your $5 bag Green.
while I personally wouldn't spend that much, I will say, from a business point of view, manufacturing in the US is so freaking expensive. I tried to do it for my company, and found out it would cost 3-5 more than having it made somewhere else. lame, but true.
